What is OEM eyewear supply?

OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturing. In an OEM eyewear order, the buyer provides or approves defined product specifications and the supplier arranges production according to those requirements. This route is useful when you already know the frame style, material, dimensions, colours, finish, branding position or packaging direction you require.

OEM supply can suit established eyewear brands, optical chains and distributors that need a consistent product carrying their own identity. The final feasibility, quantity and production terms depend on the selected design and level of customisation.

What is ODM eyewear supply?

ODM stands for Original Design Manufacturing. ODM eyewear is a practical option when you want to launch or expand a private-label range without developing every component from the beginning. You can start with available or supplier-developed designs and adapt approved elements such as colours, finishes, branding and assortment for your target market.

ODM supply can reduce development effort and help a new or growing eyewear brand reach the market with a focused collection. It is especially useful when you need product-selection support in addition to production.

What is white label eyewear?

White label eyewear is an efficient route for businesses that want to sell optical frames or sunglasses under their own brand using established, ready-to-source styles. The selected product is supplied with approved brand identification or logo treatment, subject to quantity, artwork and production feasibility.

A white label programme generally requires fewer design changes than a fully customised OEM project. This makes it suitable for optical retailers launching an in-house label, ecommerce businesses testing a new category, fashion brands adding eyewear and distributors creating a market-specific range.

White label and private label are often used interchangeably, but there can be a practical difference. White label usually starts with a more standard product that can be branded for a buyer. Private label may involve a more exclusive assortment, colour direction, packaging plan or product specification. The correct route depends on how distinctive you want the finished collection to be.

OEM vs ODM vs white label eyewear

Supply model Best suited for Typical starting point
OEM Buyers with a defined product brief Specified design, material, size, finish and branding requirements
ODM Brands that want design-selection and adaptation support Existing or supplier-developed designs adapted for the target market
White label Retailers and brands seeking a faster branded range Proven eyewear styles with approved logo or brand treatment

Choose OEM when the product specification is already clear. Choose ODM when you want guidance adapting suitable designs. Choose white label when speed and straightforward branding are the priorities. Many buyers combine these approaches: white label styles for a core range and customised OEM or ODM models for differentiation.

What can be customised?

Customisation depends on the selected model, material, quantity and production feasibility. An OEM, ODM or private-label eyewear brief may include:

  • Optical frames, sunglasses or a combination of both
  • Frame shape, size and target customer segment
  • Material and construction direction
  • Frame, temple and lens colour direction
  • Glossy, matte, transparent, solid or mixed finishes where available
  • Brand name, logo or model identification
  • Logo position and approved printing method
  • Single-colour or double-colour branding
  • Model and colour assortment planning
  • Packaging direction where separately approved

Every requirement is reviewed before confirmation because not every colour, printing method or placement is suitable for every optical frame or sunglass model.

Custom logo printing for orders of 100 eligible pieces or more

Custom printing is available when the order contains at least 100 eligible eyewear pieces. Trays and accessories do not count towards the eligible quantity and are not included in this printing offer.

  • Printing: ₹10 per eligible piece
  • Single-colour dye charge: add ₹850, paid one time
  • Double-colour dye charge: add ₹1,250, paid one time

The applicable dye charge is paid only once for the approved printing setup/order; it is not charged per piece.

For optical frames, branding can be applied using laser printing or screen printing on the dummy lens, depending on the approved requirement. For sunglasses, laser printing is available.

Printing is charged at actual. The final amount is confirmed after checking the artwork, number of colours, placement, product type and production details. These amounts provide the standard pricing basis for planning a qualifying order.

How to build a white label eyewear collection

1. Define the customer and price position

Decide whether the range is intended for men, women, kids or a mixed audience. Define the expected retail segment and product category before selecting designs. A clear target helps avoid a collection that contains attractive products but lacks a consistent commercial direction.

2. Shortlist proven styles

Begin with styles that suit your customer and sales channel. Review new optical frames, sunglasses and complete model ranges. A focused initial selection is often easier to present, stock and reorder than a collection with too many unrelated designs.

3. Plan colours and assortment

Choose core colours that can support repeat sales, then add selected fashion colours where appropriate. The possible model and colour mix depends on availability and the approved supply plan.

4. Prepare brand artwork

Share a clear vector logo where possible. Confirm the required placement, printing colour and preferred treatment. Fine lines and complicated artwork may need adjustment so the branding remains clear on the selected eyewear.

5. Approve commercial and production details

Review the product prices, printing charge, one-time dye charge, quantity, assortment and timeline before approval. Production should begin only after the artwork and order details are confirmed.

How the OEM, ODM and white label ordering process works

  1. Share your requirement. Provide the product category, target price, expected quantity, preferred material, customer segment and branding requirement.
  2. Select the supply route. Choose white label for established branded styles, ODM for adapted designs or OEM for a defined specification.
  3. Confirm models and colours. Finalise the proposed assortment subject to availability and feasibility.
  4. Submit brand artwork. Share the logo and confirm the required placement, colour and method.
  5. Review the quotation. Product, printing, one-time dye and other approved charges are confirmed before production.
  6. Approve the final details. Production begins after specifications, artwork and commercial terms are approved.
  7. Quality check and dispatch. The completed order is checked and prepared for dispatch under the agreed order terms.

Is private label the same as white label?

The terms are often used interchangeably. In practice, white label usually starts with a more standard product and approved branding, while private label may include a more exclusive assortment, colour plan, packaging direction or specification.

What is the minimum quantity for OEM, ODM or white label eyewear?

The required quantity depends on the selected model, material and level of customisation. Custom printing becomes available when the order contains at least 100 eligible eyewear pieces. Trays and accessories do not count towards this threshold.

Can I put my brand logo on optical frames and sunglasses?

Yes, subject to product and artwork approval. Optical frames can use laser printing or screen printing on the dummy lens depending on the requirement. Sunglasses use laser printing.

Is the dye charge paid on every piece?

No. The applicable ₹850 single-colour or ₹1,250 double-colour dye charge is paid one time for the approved printing setup/order. It is not charged per piece.
